Member Events
The Riverwood Golf and Athletic Club offers a wide variety of tournaments every year. A few of the tournaments we host include:
Riverwood Amateur
The Riverwood Amateur is perhaps Riverwood Golf & Athletic Clubs’ most broadcasted tournament of the year. This event is a 36-hole handicapped stoke play event. The entry fee for this golf tournament is $180 per person. This tournament is a qualifier for the North Carolina State Amateur Championship.
Interclub
The Interclub is an ongoing series of tournaments. The members of Riverwood Golf
& Athletic Club who join the Interclub team have the privilege of traveling to different golf courses and competing against their members.
Fees for the Interclub team $20 per tournament played.
Adult/Junior
The Adult/Junior golf tournament is a great chance for dad/mom to take their child and introduce them to a competitive environment. The main purpose for this tournament is to spark interest in the junior (in a fun-filled environment) to continue growing in golf. The cost is $25 for each Adult/Junior team. There are prizes and a cookout for each team included in the entry fee.
Par Three Tournament
The Riverwood Golf & Athletic Club Staff offers a wide variety of tournaments that will hopefully gain attention and participation from its members and its’ Par Three Tournament is a prime example.
Every hole on the golf course plays as a par three. However, this is no ordinary Par Three Tournament meaning; the tee boxes are located in very obscure places on the golf course. Players could tee off from various locations such as a maintenance path, the following hole, or even on top of a bunker somewhere on the course. It’s great fun and the 18-hole stroke play event only costs $30.
HGC vs. RGC
The Hedingham vs. Riverwood tournament is formatted after the Ryder Cup. One golf professional from each club heads each team and picks players whom he thinks will
deliver the best possible outcome for the team. It is a 36-hole, two day tournament that is played at both courses.
Beat The Staff
The “Beat the Staff” golf tournament is a time for every member to take a shot at beating Riverwood Golf and Athletic Club’s professional staff. The format for the “Beat the Staff” tournament is a four man best ball event. Every player that plays must be a member and teams can be organized by each member.
Member/Guest
At Riverwood Golf & Athletic Club our Member/Guest tournament is held springtime to reduce conflicts with vacations and other summer time events. The format for the Member/Guest is an 18-hole, best ball golf tournament. There is an excessive prize pay out and great food and beverage services. The cost for the member/guest is $100 per player.
Member/Member
The member/member golf tournament has one of the best atmospheres of all the golf tournaments. All members of Riverwood Golf Tournament compete not solely for prize money, but mainly bragging rights. The cost of the member/member is $100 per player. The Riverwood Café caters this event. The format for the Member/Member is a two man best ball.
Frozen Tundra
The Name of this golf tournament already gives away the time of the year this tournament is played. This tournament is an 18-hole stroke play event played at the end of November. This will be a handicapped tournament where everyone will have an equal opportunity to win prizes.
Tip and Tuck
The Tip and Tuck golf tournament is the most challenging golf tournament for players at Riverwood Golf and Athletic Club. The tees are placed in remote locations on the golf course to add length and skill challenges for each player. For Example, the tee box for Deer Run #1 are placed on the driving range. Also, to add to the difficultness, the pins are positioned as tough as possible. The tournament has two flights with two different sets of tee markers. The entry fee for the Tip and Tuck golf tournament will be $30 per player. The Riverwood Café provides food and beverage services.
Club Championship
The Club Championship is our most prestigious golf tournament. Members with different skill levels compete to see who this years’ Club Champion will be. The entry fee for the Club Championship is $50 per player. This is a handicapped stroke play tournament.
