Handicap

Leveling the Playing Field

A player's official USGA Handicap Index is derived from a complicated formula that, thankfully, players themselves do not have to figure. It takes into account adjusted gross score, course rating and slope rating.

Riverwood Golf & Athletic Club offers a handicap system run through Golf Net and the Carolinas Golf Association. After completion of a golf round, each player will submit their score into a computer database. The database will automatically calculate the players round and use the information towards formulating an accurate handicap. The player also has to turn in a signed scorecard to the golf staff for each round submitted into the computer. The USGA states that it only takes ten golfing rounds to create an official handicap. Membership for a precise handicap runs from January 1st to December 31st.

Check at the club front desk from more information on our handicap system.
